I became aware of this CD after reading a post written by Michael Spencer Jones (the photographer on Morning Glory) saying how rare and unknown it was. Once I had it in my collection I sent him a personal message through messenger asking him about its rarity and what he knew about it.Â
This is his reply "...yes, it's super rare so much so that collectors aren't really aware of it's existence. The track listing does not match the CD listing when played - Creation only printed 50 copies. When they noticed the mistake they printed a new run which also included the track Step Out, that's also rare but not as rare. They then printed a 3rd promo which didn't include Step Out as it was taken off the album. That initial demo just went out to the band and employees at Creation."
The CD does contain 13-tracks as the "Swamp Song" excerpts were omitted.
There is a second account of what happened detailed on Discogs in the "Edit Release" section for the 13-track promo, it reads "I worked at Creation Records at the time and my recollection of events was the white writing version was the original promo version produced (at Damont as per the run out on the playing side). The band's management went nuts (as they frequently did given the sway they held over the label at the time) that the untitled instrumental tracks weren't listed on the label. This initial promo version still have 13 tracks on the CD just 11 noted on the label." A further edit reads "I worked at Creation at the time (my name is credited on various record sleeves if proof required). There was much discussion around listing or not listing what were considered bonus instrumental tracks. Noel had been hanging out with Paul Weller who had included similar untitled tracks on his album. What ever was decided Oasis' management company went nuts that the track listing and track running order didn't match so it was rapidly reprinted to keep them happy."
