The Oasis Interview CD (May 2005) is an extremely rare CDR that was manufactured in a strictly limited run of fewer than 150 copies and runs for just over 35 minutes. It was distributed worldwide solely to select radio stations and music reviewers to generate press buzz ahead of the release of Oasis’s sixth studio album, "Don't Believe the Truth". The disc utilizes a clever "syndicated interview" format designed to give the illusion of a live, localized broadcast. Rather than a standard conversation, the CD features Noel Gallagher recording answers to 28 predetermined questions. Radio stations were provided with a matching written script, allowing local DJs to read the questions on-air and play Noel's pre-recorded responses back-to-back, making it sound as if the guitarist was sitting directly in their studio. The content of the interview offers a fascinating, unfiltered look into a turbulent era for the band. In the audio, Noel candidly discusses the chaotic, three-year creation of "Don't Believe the Truth", detailing how the band completely scrapped an entire album's worth of material previously recorded with producers Death in Vegas because the tracks weren't up to par. He also famously notes during this press cycle that he considered the final record to be the band's strongest work since their 1994 debut masterpiece, Definitely Maybe.
